Gary Con IV is Underway!
Here are some pics from Gary Con eve, the scheduled gaming begins tomorrow. I was surprised by the early turnout and I was lucky enough to get into a couple of early games. The first was a game of Kingsburg with Wayne (The Keeepr) and Dale Ann who love this game and teach it very well. I definitely had a shot right up through the end. Then a bit later, daiglo, The Skach, and howandwhy99, along with a few others, played a couple of fast games of Wits & Wagers. Great fun!

Marvin the Mage
Marvin the Mage is a fun new character from Mudpuppy Comics that follows a hapless spellcaster in a fantasy gaming mileau. I have no doubt that any tabletop roleplayers will get quite a kick from this funny, funny stuff. It's chock full of nostalgia and RPG-cultural references that many gamers will love. As artist Jim Wampler puts it, “No Dungeons, No Dragons, and 100% of the adult daily requirement of satire.” I was lucky enough to be the 300th Like on their Facebook page and won a personalized frame which you can see below. Enjoy!

The Hobbit: Peter Jackson's Sixth Video Blog
Huzzah! The sixth Video Blog from Peter Jackson has come out detailing the filming of The Hobbit movies. The countryside in New Zealand is amazing and it appears they are having a great time shooting. I'm glad to see Andy Serkis getting so much experience as director of the second unit and I hope that more high quality fantasy movies are made in the future with him at the helm. Note around the 10 minute mark where Graham McTavish, who plays Dwalin, mentions that "Scene 88" will be a separate film released between the two. Now I realize that originally there had been some discussion that they'd make three films and that there would be two for The Hobbit and a "bridge" film to take us through the years between the ending of The Hobbit and the beginning of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, but that idea seemed to have been shelved. I wonder, though, if they are making a little something extra to put out at Christmastime this year between the two main films. We will see, Anyway, enjoy!
